Crafting Apps FAQ

What are the Crafting Apps?

Free, open-source apps by the ArtCraft team, each written from scratch in Rust and each modelled on a well-known pro app: VectorCraft (Illustrator), PhotoCraft (Photoshop), WordCraft (Word), GridCraft (Excel), DeckCraft (PowerPoint), PdfCraft (Acrobat), FilmCraft (Premiere Pro), LightCraft (Lightroom), EffectCraft (After Effects), DesignCraft (InDesign), FigCraft (Figma), CADCraft (AutoCAD), SoundCraft (Pro Tools).

Is SolidCraft one of the Crafting Apps?

No. SolidCraft is an independent community project by bherbruck and its contributors, not by the ArtCraft team. We list and host it here because it is built the same way: in Rust, open source (MIT or Apache-2.0) and runnable in the browser.

Are the Crafting Apps really free?

Yes. Every app is released under the MIT or Apache-2.0 licence, for personal and commercial use, with no account needed.

Which ones can I use online here?

VectorCraft, PhotoCraft, WordCraft, GridCraft, DeckCraft, PdfCraft, FilmCraft, LightCraft, EffectCraft, DesignCraft, FigCraft, SolidCraft. This site hosts their unmodified official web builds, so each opens in your browser with no install or account. The newest apps link to their official GitHub releases for now.

Is this site made by the ArtCraft team?

No. This is an independent site that hosts unmodified official builds and writes guides for them. The official project lives at getartcraft.com and github.com/storytold.

Are the Crafting Apps ready to replace Adobe or Microsoft Office?

Not yet. They were first released in October 2026 and are early, alpha software. They are improving quickly and are already useful for many everyday tasks.
